Made for riders looking to drop a few grams from the rotational mass of their tires, the Schwalbe Extra Light tubes provide cheap and easy way to do that. Weighting around 140g they are 60g lighter then most inner tubes, this also means they are a bit thinner too and take less space in your backpack, saddle bag or jersey pockets.
When compared to regular tubes, in the 4 months I have been using the Schwalbe Extra Light, I found them to be no more prone to punctures then the regular ones. Also some people were complaining about tearing their tubes on rocks and sidewalks, but I have not experienced such problems even on very rough rides. Nothing out of the ordinary.
As for the reduced weight of the wheels, even though it is only 60g per wheel, it was a noticeable improvement especially when going uphill, but don’t expect wonders.
Pros: Light, no more prone to punctures then regular tubes, don’t loose air, not expensive, worth their money, transparent cap is a nice touch
